A vital part of the long-running animated television series (from September, 1960 until April, 1966) The Flintstones, was its lovely leading lady, Wilma Flintstone.
In many ways Wilma Flintstone was the typical housewife of that time. With a mind of her own, she was outspoken and often in control of her relationship with her husband, Fred. Yet, clearly feminine, she provided a turning point for young girls as they watched her balance a home while keeping tabs on her husband. She is portrayed as more intelligent, level-headed, yet with one downfall: shopping!
The voice of Wilma, for all 6 seasons, was Jean Vander Pyl, a veteran of the movies, radio, and television. Ms. Vander Pyl also provided the voice for her daughter, Pebbles.
