On September 30, 1960, television forever changed as the animated series The Flintstones debuted. It starred the loud (yet lovable!) Fred Flintstone. Fred Flintstone was among the first characters in a family sitcom where the father figure was less than ideal. Prior to this, most family sitcoms like Father Knows Best and Leave it to Beaver featured male role models who were the envy of all. Fred Flintstone changed all that on the animated stage.
Fred Flintstone is a family man, he works hard, and lives for his nights out with Barney Rubble at the Water Buffalo Lodge. He is best known for his staple call/shout for his wife … WILMA!
