One of the most memorable characters of the long running (from September, 1960 until April, 1966) animated TV series The Flintstones, was the lovable futuristic character known as the Great Gazoo.
First appearing on the series on October 29, 1965 (during season 5), the Flintstones Gazoo is sent back in time from the future because he built a massive doomsday machine, a device he claimed he never intended on using. He’s sent back to Bedrock to prove himself by helping two “dum dums” (his pet phrase for Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble).
Throughout his time on the series, he winds up causing more trouble than good - but becomes a sentimental part of the show. The voice of the Flintstones Gazoo was played by Harvey Korman.
