The latest introduction of the Strawberry Shortcake line was in the early 2000s. Strawberry Shortcake's initial introduction was in the early 1980s. It almost seems like the little girls who played with these sweet-smelling dolls during their childhoods grew up with such fond memories that they wanted to insure their daughters would also enjoy this enchanting Strawberryland world.
Because of the twenty year span between the two introductions of Strawberry Shortcake, there is a lot of interest in the vintage Strawberry Shortcake line. Many of the original Strawberry Shortcake characters changed, and some even disappeared. Raspberry Tart became Raspberry Torte. Strawberry Shortcake villains were the biggest hit by the twenty year difference in year presentations. The Strawberry Shortcake villains (Purple Pieman, Sour Grapes, Raisin Cane, and Licorice Whip) if even present, seem to have become less villainous.
