The original Strawberry Shortcake line debuted in 1980. Strawberry Shortcake was reintroduced in 2003 - with some changes, including some new characters. Because of Strawberry Shortcake's introduction twenty three years after her first appearance, there are many vintage Strawberry Shortcake items. One of the obvious changes was the introduction of Raspberry Torte - replacing the earlier Raspberry Tart!
Strawberry Shortcake and her cat, Custard, were the first on the Strawberryland scene. Soon, Huckleberry Pie and Pupcake joined them. Cheesecake (mouse) and Blueberry Muffin, Apple Dumplin' and Tea Time Turtle, Raspberry Tart and Rhubarb (monkey), Plum Puddin' and Elderberry (owl), Orange Blossom and Marmalade (butterfly), and Lemon Meringue and Frappe' (frog) soon followed.
