In the 1960s, toy maker Fisher-Price released their first set of Little People. The first set consisted of wooden cylindrical figures that fit into specially made plastic buildings and vehicles.
In 1975, Fisher-Price released the first Sesame Street Little People set. This first set was a replica of the main set for the show: the brownstone apartment and Hooper's store. Also included in this first set were Big Bird's nest and eight characters.
In 1977 a second set of Sesame Street themed Little People was released. This set included the Sesame Street Club House and four new characters. Despite the success of the first set, the second was only sold for a year making it significantly harder to find now.
The Sesame Street Little People sets were notable in that the first set, the brownstone and shop, marked the first urban setting for the Fisher-Price toy set. As well, the three human characters in the 1975 set are the only Little People based on real people.
