During the 1950s, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were very popular television stars. The famous Roy Rogers show started airing and quickly became a television hit. The show featured Roy and Dale, and also Roy's famous horse Trigger and Bullet, his dog.
Once the Roy Rogers show became such a success, children clamored to collect different items in the Roy Rogers television show line. Fans wanted anything that tied in with the very popular show. One of the biggest collectibles was the Roy Rogers lunchbox, which usually included a thermos. Most of the boxes were metal and square-shaped, but the chuck wagon box offered a domed-lid.
