The Davy Crockett hat was the iconic symbol of the 1950s television show, Davy Crockett. This hat was made out of raccoon skin and fur, yet most people know it simply as the Davy Crockett hat. The show was based on the actual American frontiersman, Davy Crockett.
The Davy Crockett show was an original Walt Disney series and starred Fess Parker as Davy Crockett and Buddy Ebsen as Davy's sidekick and best friend, Georgie Russell.
The series followed their adventures throughout the 19th century American Frontier and lasted only five episodes before being taken off the air. In 1989, Walt Disney briefly revived the series and once again brought the Davy Crockett hHat to the forefront of American television.
