When Ruth Handler created the first Barbie in 1959, she probably never imagined that Barbie would one day be considered a "collectible" toy. Not only are the actual Barbie Dolls collectible, but her high fashion clothes and her family and friends are also very desirable collectibles.
Barbies from yesteryear increase in price, as well as Barbie's clothes, accessories, and family and friends. Barbies, Barbies' fashions, cars, houses, Kens (Barbie's boyfriend), Midges (Barbie's friend), and Skippers (Barbies most famous sister) from as far back as the 1960s are sought after by collectors. Ken's buddy Allan, Allan's Irwin car, the original ponytail Barbie doll, Skipper's and Skooter's Junior fashions, these are only some of the many, many Vintage Barbie collectibles.
